Off She Goes!!

Allison learned to ride her bike without training wheels this week. I think peer pressure did her some good as she was the third kid to learn on our street this week. I guess the kids will be flying down the street a little quicker from now on. She is very proud and takes every opportunity to get outside and ride her bike. We're proud of her for sticking to it until she got the hang of it.

Dying Eggs

We dyed Easter eggs for the first time this year. Since Allison had an egg allergy we stayed away from this tradition. Now that she doesn't seem to have as many effects from eggs, we decide to try our hand at dying. Allison and Blake had a great time dipping the eggs into the cups full of dye. Of course most of the eggs ended up being a blue/green mix because they had to put every egg in every color every time. Carter was napping and missed out on the fun. (Thank Goodness!) Lastly, in true Allison form, when we were all finished, Allison said....."That's it?? That's all we do??"

Block Easter Egg Hunt

Our neighbor organized an Easter egg hunt for all of the kids on our street. There are 13 kids that live on our street so it was really nice. We hid 200 eggs and let the kids go crazy. They had to hurry because the eggs had chocolate in them. Between the ants and the hot sun the kids had to work fast. They had a great time. Afterwards we had cupcakes and soda for a treat. A nice time was had by all.

My Little Fish

The kids have become quite the little water babies since we've moved to Puerto Rico. Swimminng is their favorite thing to do and they want to do it every day. I can see where we will be spending our summer. I better buy some Coppertone stock with the way we will be using the sunscreen. Here in Puerto Rico, you can get a really bad sunburn on a completely cloudy day in a small amount of time. It's crazy. I guess the UV index is just much higher here. Allison is a great swimmer. She can dive in and do flips. The whole shebang. Blake still sports his life jacket but can jump in easily. Carter loves the water but still keeps a close eye on Mom or Dad, and he's much too big for the baby boat (so he thinks). I took some pictures of them in action the other day. This is one of my favorite things about living in Puerto Rico. The ability to swim 24/7 year round.

Crazy Landscaping

We have these crazy flowers that come up every spring in our flower bed. I have no idea what they are but I find them very interesting. Anyone ever seen these before? They grow tall really quickly and then stay about a foot and a half high for a few months. Then they die and don't come back until next year.

Juice Box Addicts

My kids love the juice. In fact I am going to say that "juice box" was Carter's frst 2 word phrase. He can say it quite clearly and does so often. The kids had a picnic out on the patio the other day for lunch. They looked like little juice box sipping angels and I had to get some pictures of such a rare moment.

Going Bananas!

This bunch of bananas came from the tree in our backyard last fall. The other picture is from our jobo tree. It's interesting to watch them grow. We also have a papaya tree and 2 plantain trees. Too bad I don't care for any of these fruits. I like bananas, but the othersjust taste nasty to me. I want limes or lemons. Bill takes the fruits to his coworkers and they just love them.

Getting Started

I love to read people's blogs. I don't care if they are close friends or strangers. Blogs fascinate me. So.... I have been thinking for a looong while now that I really ought to make a blog of my own. I have hesitated to do it for several reasons. Most of them are silly and based on my need for perfectionism in all things, but they are mine. So, here are the terms that I am asking myself to accept. My blog will be updated when I feel like updating it. I will write about things positive and negative. I will blog about things that seem boring today, but will most likely make me smile in years to come. I will blog because I want to. I will not obsess over every word of every post. It is okay if my spelling and grammar have issues. It's my blog, I'm allowed. I will blog so that I can stay close to family and friends and give back to them some of the joy they have given to me through their blogs. So here we go!
